About

Most English-language writing about Korea is either a press release with the dates swapped, or a blog post that was accurate three years ago. That gap is the reason this site exists.

Korea Guide covers the practical side of a visit — tickets, bookings, entry rules, opening seasons, prices, and the customs nobody bothers to write down. Each guide sets out to answer one question completely, in the order you would actually need the answers.

How these guides are researched

  • Numbers, dates and fees come from whoever sets them — the ministry, the agency, the official booking system, or the text of the regulation itself. Not from other blogs, and not from a search-engine summary.
  • Anything I cannot confirm at a primary source is labelled as unconfirmed rather than quietly rounded off.
  • Every guide carries the date its facts were checked, because most of them expire.

That last rule is not a formality. Two examples from guides on this site:

  • English menus across Seoul still translate samgyeopsal as “Korean-Style Bacon”, a wording that came from a 2009 government romanisation list and was replaced in 2014. Bacon is cured pork. Samgyeopsal is not cured at all.
  • Several English itineraries still sell the DMZ Peace Trail as a walk you can sign up for. The programme’s own application rules restrict it to Korean nationals.

Neither of those turned up by searching harder in English. They turned up by reading the Korean source. That is most of the work here.

What this site is not

  • Not a travel agency. I cannot book, hold, or refund anything on your behalf.
  • No sponsored posts and no affiliate links. Nothing here is recommended because someone paid for it.
  • Not a replacement for the official source on the day you travel. Korean opening seasons, visitor quotas and fees change on short notice. Every guide links straight to the page that will still be right when this one has gone stale.

Corrections

If something here is wrong or out of date, please tell me — a link to the page showing the correct figure is enough, and the guide gets fixed. Corrections are the most useful thing anyone sends me. You can reach me through the contact page, and the privacy policy explains what happens to the details you enter there.
